Water Resources Restoration Act

Federal funding for the Everglades restoration has been held up in Congress because it is part of the controversial water resources bill still seeking support. In light of this fact, a team of IGERT Trainees and several law students lead by professor Richard Hamann (IGERT Co-PI) and at the request of US Senator, Bob Graham have contributed research and analysis regarding the place of restoration projects within the Federal Water Resources Act. The result of this collaboration is a draft, Water Resources Restoration Act, that would effectively separate restoration funding from water resources project funding, thereby streamlining funding to important restoration projects. They have also been working with other legislators seeking sponsors for the new bill.
