Trainee Achievements

Trainees support state legislator's work on greenhouse gas emissions, ocean acidification

Throughout the academic year, trainees in cohorts 1 and 2 continued to work forward on group projects. A significant new group project was initiated by a group of four trainees. In this project, the trainees are serving as 'science-staffers' to a state legislator to help provide science to support decisions regarding greenhouse gas emissions and ocean acidification in Washington state. This opportunity offers these four STEM students first-hand experience of the state legislative process and an opportunity to learn how science can be used in decision-making. The trainees reported their activities in their 2013 IGERT poster and video.
