Trainees conduct reviews of green energy technologies

Through the interdisciplinary introduction to Green Chemistry class, our students have been conducting reviews of green energy technologies. As a part of this process they have been reaching out to a number of local companies and municipal energy producers to get a better understand of the drivers and barriers to the adoption of various low-carbon, biobased technologies. One group of students in particular has uncovered unexpected advantages and scalable models for the use of waste biomass to reduce the greenhouse and air-pollution impacts of uncontrolled forest burning. These findings are being summarized in a report that the will share with the public during our final poster session for the class.
