Student-organized Forum attracts students across departments

The IGERT Forum, a two unit class, successfully gathers interested interdisciplinary students across campus. The Forum meets bi-weekly and is organized by the students with a rotating faculty member providing oversight. Locations also rotate to reach a greater number of students across campus. Although mentioned in other reports, the achievement in this period is demonstrated by interest from students in Political Science and International Relations and Pacific studies in continuing and expanding the breadth of discussion topics to reach more students. The Forum has also attracted students form our allied Masters of Advanced Study Program in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation. This will generate more cross-disciplinary research by students and faculty. We are considering cross-listing the course number in other departments to promote its availability to interested students.
