Fellows host retreat on interdisciplinary water resource issues

The entire cohort of I-WATER Fellows organized and ran a two-day retreat in Estes Park, CO, on I-WATER interdisciplinary research questions. The retreat addressed interdisciplinary aspects of science in the context of riverine processes. I-WATER Fellows invited speakers from academia and industry/management to discuss various components of interdisciplinary research, education, and management as they relate to water resources. Portions of these presentations included aspects of communication between disciplines, scientists in other countries, governments, and the general public. This experience provided I-WATER fellows with information regarding working together in interdisciplinary teams and with communicating scientific findings with the general public to change behaviors with regard to conservation of freshwater resources.
