'Colloidal Nanocrystals for Biomedical Applications' course

ECE 581 course on "Colloidal Nanocrystals for Biomedical Applications", cross-listed with the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program and with the Nanoscience and Microsystems program, was taught in Spring 2013. The course was developed under the INCBN IGERT program, and for the first time was included in the UNM Catalog for the 2011/2012 academic year. The course was co-taught by three instructors with science/engineering, neuroscience, and cell biology expertise, and featured an innovative format with invited lecturers, students leading discussion on assigned topics, tours of relevant facilities on campus and at Sandia National Laboratories, and problem-based learning assignments that involve both teamwork in brainstorming sessions and development of individual writing skills through written reports. All of the new INCBN IGERT Trainees selected since 2011 participated in the course, taking it for credit.
