Microbiome biogeography in gastrointestinal tract

The interdisciplinary nature of training in our MEID-IGERT is exemplified by the close interactions between faculty and Trainees with expertise in microbial ecology, landscape ecology, association statistics, bioinformatics and genetic algorithms. This highly interdisciplinary project focuses on microbiome biogeography WITHIN the gastrointestinal tract and how the distribution of the constituent populations of the microbiome can affect the outcome of infection and disease by opportunistic pathogens of the GI tract.
