Three IGERT seminars taught by participating faculty

Three IGERT seminars were taught during 2011-2012 by participating faculty. Professional Development and Ethics was taught by Project Director Nilsa Bosque-Perez and 26 students enrolled in it. The course included presentations and discussions on responsible conduct of research; ethical issues relevant to teamwork, authorship, and conducting research in international settings; data gathering and management; communicating science to the public; and advocacy, policy issues and science. Resilience in Changing Landscapes was taught by Tim Prather and Robert Heinse and 17 students enrolled. Students reviewed resilience literature and led discussions on the subject. The Cross-disciplinary Research seminar taught by Tim Link and Troy Hall provided 14 students the opportunity to present talks on their disciplinary research with an emphasis on cross-disciplinary integration. Additionally a workshop on Statistical Approaches to Interdisciplinary Data Analysis was taught by Chris Williams.
