Research Achievements

Open-source textbook published for undergrads in Botswana

Faculty and IGERT trainees who worked in Africa and several that have experience in Africa along with faculty from University of Botswana’s Okavango Research Institute have written a textbook on resource management for undergraduate students at UB. The text is in final draft form and will be published as an open-source book August of 2012. The text is a collaborative effort that evolved directly from our research and involvement with students and faculty at UB and the perceived need for a comprehensive, systems oriented textbook on resource management. While there is a direct and immediate need for the text as the UB-Maun campus (where we have had the most direct contact with researchers) is developing an undergraduate program in environmental sciences, the text is appropriate for any resource management course in southern Africa and will be freely available.
