Trainee awarded USDA fellowship

Dylan Storey was awarded a USDA Agriculture and Food Research Initiative graduate fellowship to cover the cost of the next two years of his graduate program. Dylan has proposed to bring new and novel methods of high throughput bioinformatics to study the challenge of Phytophthora control in agriculture. He credits encouragement and aid from the SCALE-IT program manger as directly responsible for his pursuit of this award and we are pleased that he will continue to be a part of SCALE-IT moving forward. Dylan will mentor incoming SCALE-IT students, direct a group research project (as part of his fellowship plan of study), and teach the bioinformatics scripting course he developed last year. The scripting course will become part of the standard bioinformatics curriculum at UT, and this year he will be training another SCALE-IT student (Caroline Rempe) to take over the class for next year.
