Spatial heterogeneity in malaria dynamics

Olivia Prosper published a paper with biology fellow Nick Ruktanonchai in the Journal of Theoretical Biology, continuing the project started in their cohort 2 workshop year looking at malaria dynamics in Hispaniola . She and Nick worked on the role of spatial heterogeneity and human movement in malaria dynamics and control. She presented a poster on competition between Plasmodium faciparum and P. vivax at the MBI Workshop for Young REsearchers in Mathematical Biology. She later presented this work as a paper presentation at the Frontiers in Mathematical Biology conference. Olivia will be starting a post-doctoral position in the math department of Dartmouth this June.
