Conducting research in China

Six of our trainees have published a paper on conducting research in China. The full reference is: Jamon Van Den Hoek, Jill Baumgartner, Elena Doucet-Beer, Timothy Hildebrandt, Brian E. Robinson & John Aloysius Zinda (2012): Understanding the Challenges and Rewards of Social-Ecological Research in China, Society & Natural Resources: An International Journal, DOI:10.1080/08941920.2012.658985. The main thesis of the article is that conducting scientific research in China can be challenging for foreign scholars, but an awareness of Chinese research culture and how to navigate Chinese academic and institutional systems will improve prospects for successful research and beneficial collaboration.
