Achievement

Written and oral communication to the professional community are important components of our IGERT program. Through the University of Texas’ commitment to our IGERT program we continued to issue travel stipends for our IGERT trainees and affiliates to present their results at technical conferences. Such participation is one of the pillars of our professional development efforts and has benefitted our students as public speakers and the professional connections made at such conferences, and also our program as our students are great ambassadors. During the past year nine of our IGERT students attended 10 different conferences and delivered 26 presentations, mostly at podium. Eighteen trainees and affiliates co-authored over 40 conference papers. Five trainees and one affiliate published 8 refereed journal and 2 non-refereed journal papers.
