Education Achievements

Trainees receive PhDs and have job offers

Nine IGERT trainees received their PhDs (David Brigada, Yuting Chen, Ben Clough, Adam Gennett, Gurpreet Kaur, Scott LeFevre, Xiaofei Lu, Peter Palomaki, and Patrick Snow) and all have job offers from industries or national labs or academia. Some have started working in this reporting period. One returned to campus with her CEO to do recruiting in the fall of 2011. One came back to present a talk on the life in industry to IGERT trainees during the annual IGERT student retreat in July 2011 as well as recruiting for his company. Another 23 with the majority already passing their PhD qualifying exams will graduate in 1 to 2 years. We have graduated 24 PhD trainees, 5 MS trainees (two of them continued in other schools and received PhDs) so far. We will fulfill and exceed the goal of graduating 45 IGERT students.
