Achievement

Trainees Leland Smith and Rita Blaik, under the direction of their advisor Professor Bruce Dunn and Andris Abele (UCLA Institute for Technology Advancement) are conducting a study under the California Energy Commission (CEC) on electrochemical energy storage systems that will be available in the 3 to 10 year period as defined by a California law (AB 2514), which requires electrical companies to procure new energy storage systems to serve the needs of a grid that will become increasingly reliant on alternative energy sources, such as solar and wind, which provide energy intermittently.
