Achievement

Through out the 5 years of the IGERT we have maintained a unique seminar series. The series focuses on bringing departments together and strengthening interdisciplinary understanding through sponsored seminars in different departments. The NSMS IGERT fellows and faculty sponsor and attend departments seminars in disciplines across campus. Through these seminars the NSMS IGERT fellows are exposed to top research approached in a variety of ways. The NSMS IGERT students and faculty were also instrumental in selecting the speakers. IGERT fellows were also given the opportunity to meet with the speakers in small groups over lunch. The fellows felt they benefited greatly not only from learning more about how different departments describe their research but also from the behind the scenes question and answer sessions the lunches allowed.
