New interdisciplinary approach developed

Trainee Peter Bowerman arranged to spend two weeks in the laboratory of Elizabeth Komvives in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UC-San Diego, a world-renowned leader in the use of hydrogen-deuterium exchange/mass spectrometry. Peter is now adapting what he learned at UCSD to the instrumentation available at Virginia Tech, with the anticipation that it will provide us, as well as others on campus, with a powerful approach for validating and studying protein-protein interactions. In doing so, Peter is bridging the disciplines of biology, physics, and analytical chemistry.
