Dr. Jessica Winter the H.C. “Slip” Slider Assistant Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the Ohio State University, and also has appointments in Biomedical Engineering and Biophysics. She received her PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2004 working under Drs. Christine Schmidt and Brian Korgel. Following receipt of her PhD, Dr. Winter completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Center for Innovative Visual Rehabilitation, a collaborative effort between the Boston VA Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to develop a retinal prosthesis. Dr. Winter joined the faculty at Ohio State University in 2006. Her current research interests include the development of multifunctional nanoparticles for biological manipulation and imaging (e.g., quantum dots, iron oxide, carbon nanoparticles) and the development of nanoscale biomimetic materials to mimic the brain.
