A collaboration between the Hawaii IGERT and the East West Center resulted in a three-year, $1.4 million NSF award to investigate the impact of development-based environmental change on avian flu transmission in Vietnam. Said IGERT PI Wilcox the award “validates the several years invested in breaking new ground by through cross-disciplinary collaboration essential to identifying the mechanisms underlying the emergence new diseases like avian influenza (H5N1).”
